Congress: Pass the Equal Rights Amendment
With conservatives escalating their war on women, we need an amendment to the Constitution explicitly guaranteeing equal rights for all citizens without regard to sex.
The Equal Rights Amendment, which narrowly failed ratification in the past, has been reintroduced in March 2013 in order to accomplish this goal. The public is overwhelmingly behind this–in April 2012, a Daily Kos and SEIU poll found that 91% of Americans believe that men and women should have equal rights affirmed by the Constitution.
Please, sign the petition telling Congress it is well past time to pass the Equal Rights Amendment.
It is well past time to add the Equal Rights amendment to the Constitution and explicitly guarantee equal rights without regard to sex.
The amendment reads:
Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.
