Support federal disaster aid for Texas, and tell Texas Republicans to stop opposing it when other parts of the country are in need
In the wake of the horrific fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, it is imperative that federal disaster aid immediately be sent to help the affected families and communities. That's why it is important to stand with Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in his call to "ensure that all available resources are marshaled to deal with the horrific loss of life and suffering that we’ve seen."
However, it would be nice if, in the future, Texas Republicans like Sen. Cruz and his colleague Sen. John Cornyn would support federal disaster relief when other parts of the country are in need. Earlier this year, both Texas senators voted against federal relief for areas impacted by Superstorm Sandy. So did Bill Flores, the Republican who represents West, Texas in the U.S. House.
Sign the petition both supporting immediate federal disaster aid for Texas and also urging Texas Republicans to start supporting federal disaster aid when other parts of the country are in need.
We, the undersigned, support immediate federal disaster aid to assist the people and communities impacted by the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas. Please use our signatures to help secure that aid.
