Tell House Republicans: Stop disrespecting military servicewomen
Not only must servicewomen who become pregnant from rape or incest pay for their own abortions, they can't have the procedure performed at a military health center unless they can prove they were raped. What that means for female soldiers deployed in war zones like Afghanistan is horrifying.
EMILY's List alum Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) is fighting to fix this. Her amendment to the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act would give military families the same access to abortion care that other federal employees receive. While Shaheen's proposal passed the Senate Armed Services Committee with bipartisan support, Tea Party House Republicans purposely omitted it in their version of the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act.
Please join Daily Kos and our partners at EMILY's List in telling the House Republican leadership to stop blocking access to abortion care for military servicewomen who become pregnant from rape or incest.
Please support our troops and tell the House GOP to stop blocking access to abortion care for military servicewomen who become pregnant from rape or incest. Our servicewomen deserve access to the same health care services as the civilians they defend.
