Republicans blocking abortion access for military servicewomen who have been raped
Even as Republicans like Mitt Romney scramble to distance themselves from Rep. Todd Akin's offensive comments about rape victims, House Republicans continue to block abortion access for soldiers who become pregnant from rape.
Not only must servicewomen who become pregnant from rape or incest pay for their own abortions, they can't have the procedure performed at a military health center unless they can prove they were raped.
Republicans can fix this by passing the Stand With Servicewomen Act, an amendment to the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act that gives military families the same access to abortion care that other federal employees receive. While the Stand with Servicewomen Act passed the Senate Armed Services Committee with bipartisan support, House Republicans like Todd Akin purposely omitted it in their version of the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act.
Tell House Republicans it's time they stopped blocking access to abortion care for servicewomen who become pregnant from rape.
Please support our troops and tell the House GOP to stop blocking access to abortion care for military servicewomen who become pregnant from rape or incest. Our servicewomen deserve access to the same health care services as the civilians they defend.
