We don't have to settle for this. In 2010, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid forced repeated votes on the financial reform bill until Republicans grew weary of headlines about how they doing the bidding of Wall Street. After three days of votes, opponents of the financial reform bill relented and the filibuster was defeated.
With 91% of Americans supporting universal background checks, the same tactic of public embarrassment could work again.

With 91% of Americans in support of universal background checks, that same tactic of public embarrassment could work again.
