Tell Harry Reid to force repeated votes on expanded background checks

Even after Virginia Tech, Tucson, Aurora, and Sandy Hook, expanded background checks for firearm sales were just filibustered in the Senate.

We don't have to settle for this. In 2010, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid forced repeated votes on the financial reform bill until Republicans grew weary of headlines about how they doing the bidding of Wall Street. After three days of votes, opponents of the financial reform bill relented and the filibuster was defeated.

With 91% of Americans supporting universal background checks, the same tactic of public embarrassment could work again.

Please tell Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to hold repeated votes on expanded background checks for firearm sales until opponents relent and their filibuster is defeated.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid:

In late April 2010, by forcing repeated cloture votes on the financial reform bill, you successfully to broke the Republican filibuster of that important legislation.

With 91% of Americans in support of universal background checks, that same tactic of public embarrassment could work again.

Please hold repeated votes on gun safety legislation until it passes.
