Tell the administration: Say “no” to SOPA provisions
We thought we had defeated the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), but no. The Department of Commerce just released a report recommending that the Obama administration revive an egregious component of SOPA legislation: making it a felony to stream copyrighted material online.
That means if you make a video of yourself performing your favorite song, or of your family singing “Happy Birthday” to your little sister, or just talking with music in the background, and you upload that video to YouTube, you could be charged with a felony.
The public has opposed SOPA-style legislation at every turn and this recommendation is no exception. Please sign the petition urging the administration not to follow this recommendation.
