Sign the petition: Senate Republicans must use it or lose it. Stop wasting time on nominees.
Harry Reid and Senate Democrats won a huge victory in November, with filibuster reform on nominations. No more 60-vote thresholds to kill confirmations.
But now Republicans are holding up confirmations on the Senate floor for up to 30 hours per nominee—even the ones they support, and who get confirmed unanimously.
It’s a deliberate attempt at sabotage by running out the clock. As Harry Reid described it, Senate Republicans “waste 30 hours doing nothing” and a Senate aide remarked “Republicans are making a good case for use it or lose it.”
Join Fix the Senate Now Coalition and Daily Kos by signing the petition to Harry Reid: We agree. If Senate Republicans are not on the floor to actively oppose a nomination, they should lose their time to debate.
